The head is made of papier maché over an armature of recycled metal and plastic, with some wood. After the basic framework was made the surface for the skin was formed with chickenwire.
The papier maché varies between six and twelve layers thick with cardboard, tape and styrofoam-peanuts providing surface details. It is painted with 3 to 6 layers of acrylic.
The head took two activists a total of 120 hours to construct, is almost 4 feet tall from the base of the neck, and barely fits through a residential doorway.
It is the first project of its kind for the two activists. Molly, one of the builders says, "Really, its about sitting down and doing it. If you put your mind to it you don't need a lot of experience, just a lot of effort and some coffee and creativity."
